shell creek is slowing dowm

Although it’s still raining a little on the mountain, shell creek is slowing down. That means that users are asked to use their allotment only, not extra. Some folks are asking about moss kill this year. Because of the high amount of rainfall in June we have a banner crop of the green spongy moss but not a lot of the Sago moss, which is the long stringy moss that grows on the bottom of the canal. The sago moss treatment is a 1 time event where the green spongy moss treatment is every 10 days and very expensive. Unfortunately have to continue to deal with the spongy moss. I will keep everyone informed on the sago moss if it becomes a problem. FYI the sago moss restricts the flow of the canal by growing on the bottom of the canal and slowing down the water. The sponge moss floats on top and gets hung up in head gates, screens etc.
